Tikkun Olam, "repairing the world", is a hallmark of Reform Judaism. Congregation Or Chadash has ongoing social action programs as well as special events throughout the year. If you are interested in getting involved with our social action efforts, contact our Social Action Committee chairs, Pamm and Andy Shankman.

Adopt-A-Road

Road
Congregation Or Chadash participates in Montgomery County's Adopt-A-Road program. We've adopted Kings Valley Road, the road on which our building is located.

Each month, the children of one religious school class, along with their parents, pick up litter along the road. We enjoy seeing the horses on the farm down the street and have often been thanked by neighbors as we don our orange vests and clean up the trash.

Damascus HELP food pantry

Damascus HELP
Damascus HELP food pantry provides assistance to needy persons and families in the upper portion of Montgomery County, MD and adjacent areas in the form of emergency food, holiday food baskets and gifts, transportation, furniture and emergency financial assistance.

Congregation Or Chadash collects food on the last Sunday of each month, as well as on Yom Kippur, to give to Damascus HELP.
